HOSANNA PRECIOUS GIFT

On June 30, & July 2, 2006, Precious won WB/BOW/BOS at shows in Ohio. Precious has resumed her show career & now has a total of 10 Championship points, including a major. See her complete record Hosanna Hounds History Page.
Precious fits her name.  We especially love her sweetness of temper, and her pretty pretty face.  She is most like her dam in those qualities, but has improvements from her sire.  We also love her neck, topline, angles, balance, very prominent hipbones, elegance, and her CORRECT size (25" tall).

Since our family's resources are somewhat limited, and we have been showing several boys and trying to finish their championships, she hasn't been in the show ring as often as she deserves or would love.  However, she has done some Junior Handling at matches with several of our children, and she's been to a few shows.    (PHOTO AT RIGHT - PRECIOUS & HER BROTHER JOSHUA KEEPING COOL AT THE OHIO SHOWS IN SUMMER OF 1999)

Recently 13 year old Rose won 3rd place with her (over competition!) in the American bred class, as well as Best Junior in Specialty, at the Afghan Hound Club of Greater Houston Specialty show.  She also was shown by Rose at the Afghan Hound Club of America National Specialty this year in Houston, TX.  You can see her photos on Roses Junior page, and the kid's Junior's National page.  As a puppy, she placed 2 & 3rd in large Groups at large matches at shows in Ohio in 1999.  That Group 2 was was a Hound Specialty match which Afghan Hound breeder Paul Gindlesperger judged.  She has had other group placements at matches.  Click here or on photo at left to see enlarged original .JPG of this photo without the markings.  Precious measures 25" tall at the top of her shoulder, and 25" long from her chest to her buttocks.  Her back line is 'practically level from her shoulders to her loin', and she has the 'slight arch over the loin' when she stands naturally.  This is what the Afghan Hound breed standard calls for.  Bitches may be 1" more or less than 25". 

Though she has the more refined head and bone of the 'desert' type Afghan Hound, her overall proportions are more like the 'mountain' type.  She has LOVELY set under in front, and LONG, well laid back and smoothly set in shoulder blades that match her upper arms in length.  Her lengths and angles of bones of her rear legs balances her front very well.

She has a natural ring on the end of her tail.

Precious has a lovely amount of natural patterning of saddle and sides of neck, and a clean face, but LOTS of lovely silky coat everywhere else..
